It’s the start of a new year, and if you are planning to move home or upgrade your current living space, you may be interested in the latest trends in furniture. At our showroom in Amersham, we have a range of the most contemporary tables, chairs, sofas, wardrobes and more. Here are some inspiring ideas to help you make the best choice for your home.

Bold statement pieces

For several years now, minimalist designs have been the predominant trend in furniture design. While this style will remain popular throughout 2025, there’s also a trend towards bold statement pieces that combine the functional with artistic flair. For example, a coffee table with an unusual shape or materials can become a focal point of the room.

This elevates your interior design from the ubiquitous minimalist style that can feel rather impersonal, and provides a more unique and individual touch. Other ways to make a statement include playing with proportions, such as an oversized sofa, or by including vibrant pops of colour such as terracotta or cobalt blue.

Multifunctional and modular furniture

As we demand more of our living space, often using them as a base to work, exercise, and socialise as well as to cook, dine and relax, our furniture often needs to serve multiple purposes. This has led to a rise in popularity of multifunctional furniture that can serve a range of purposes.

For example, it might be as simple as a footstool or sofa with a hidden storage compartment, or a dining table with an expandable section so that it can be extended or collapsed to accommodate different uses.

Modular furniture is also a popular option for those looking to make the best use of space. For example, in a home office, modular desks and storage units that work in a variety of configurations and can be expanded or downsized as your needs change.

This gives you the flexibility to make alterations should you need your home office to serve another purpose, such as a guest bedroom, or if you simply want to change the layout of your office space or step up storage or desk capacity.

Nature inspired designs

2025 may be the year when minimalist designs that prioritise angular shapes and straight edges start to be eclipsed by more curves and nature-inspired flowing lines. This is an effective way to bring softness to a room, particularly in modern styles of architecture that may be based around straight edged designs.

Examples include curved headboards for beds and sofa backs, and table and chair legs that mimic natural forms such as waves, or even trees and flowers.

Eco-friendly materials

There will also be a trend towards more natural, sustainable and eco-friendly materials as awareness of the scale and severity of global warming and climate change continues to mount. Upholstery may include more natural fibres such as  organic cotton and linen, and products may include more recycled, reclaimed or biodegradable materials.
